Session 2: Techniques/Tools
To use an example of things that would be covered in this session we would run through things such as:
The power of the mind; looking at different breathing techniques and visulations that can be used and looking at the powerful impact of them
Demonstrating relaxation scripts along with other relaxation techniques
We look into the physiological side of birth covering topics such as; back to back babies, breech babies, c-sections, pelvic floor exercises, preventing tearing etc.
We will look at optimal positions for birth and the reasons behind this and view an example video of a hypnobirthing experience
If I practice Hypnobirthing, does it mean I cannot have any pain relief?
Absolutely not, Practicing hypnobirthing does not mean that you cannot have any other pain relief, instead it is another technique or tool that you can use to assist you during birth and labour. We encourage you to do whatever makes you feel comfortable and what you feel is the best thing to do at that time. Some women feel that they can cope completely naturally and others may wish to have pain relief and both are completely fine! The purpose of hypnobirthing is to inform you about what your body is capable of, how to provide your body with what it needs to facilitate a empowering birth that you feel in control of, we want you to have a birth that you feel fulfilled from no matter what happens during the process.
Does my partner need to be present at all sessions?
Ideally yes, Hypnobirthing is based around the mother and her partner coming together and working together in order to achieve the birth that the mother desires. In KGHypnobirthing the birth partner actually has a very big and important role which we teach them about, Your partner ideally will also be practicing the reading of the scripts and the techniques with you in the run up to birth and therefore it is preferred that your partner is present to every session. Many partners are not 100% on board with the idea of hypnobirthing at the start before the sessions, however, are normally converted by the end of the course and therefore it is great if your partner can attend the course with you to receive all the information provided in order to help understand the process and the ways KGHypnobirthing can help you. .
